Equal Opportunity
& Diversity Policy
Last updated: 05/02/2026
1. Purpose
A Plus Nursing Pty Ltd (ABN 81 662 288 173) ("A Plus Nursing", "we", "us", "our") is committed to a workplace and service environment that is fair, inclusive and free from discrimination, harassment, bullying and victimisation. This policy explains how that commitment is put into practice.
This policy applies to all directors, employees, contractors, agency workers, job applicants, participants, clients and members of the public who interact with us.
2. Our commitment
We treat every person with respect and dignity, and we make decisions about recruitment, training, pay, promotion and engagement based on merit, capability and need — not on personal characteristics protected by law.
We comply with applicable Australian equal opportunity and anti-discrimination law, including:
- Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth)
- Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth)
- Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth)
- Age Discrimination Act 2004 (Cth)
- Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth)
- Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic), and equivalent state legislation in TAS and SA
3. Protected attributes
We do not discriminate against any person on the basis of:
- Race, colour, descent, national or ethnic origin
- Sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, intersex status
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding, family or carer's responsibilities
- Age
- Disability (physical, intellectual, psychiatric, sensory or learning)
- Religious belief or activity
- Political belief or activity
- Industrial activity, including union membership
- Marital, relationship or parental status
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity
- Personal association with someone who has any of these attributes
4. What this means in practice
Recruitment. We recruit on capability, qualification and fit for the role. Job descriptions and selection criteria are written to be inclusive. Interview panels follow consistent processes. We make reasonable adjustments for candidates with disability where requested.
Pay and progression. Pay is set by award or above. Progression, training opportunities and shift allocation are determined by capability and operational need, not by protected attribute.
Workplace conduct. Discrimination, harassment (including sexual harassment), bullying, victimisation and retaliation are not tolerated. This applies to all conduct in the workplace, on shift in a client setting, at work events, and in work-related online communication.
Service delivery. We support NDIS participants of all backgrounds, identities and capabilities. We aim to match workers to participants in line with the participant's preferences — including language, gender and cultural background — wherever practical.
Reasonable adjustment. We make reasonable workplace adjustments to enable workers with disability, carer responsibilities or other relevant needs to perform their role.
5. Diversity & inclusion
A diverse workforce makes our work better. We actively welcome applications and engagement from:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- People with disability
- LGBTQIA+ workers and participants
- Mature-age workers and workers re-entering the workforce
- People with family or carer responsibilities
6. Reporting and resolution
Any person who believes they have experienced or witnessed discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation in connection with A Plus Nursing is encouraged to raise it. Reports can be made:
- Directly to a supervisor or manager
- Email: info@aplusnursing.com.au
- Phone: 03 5292 0800
Reports are handled confidentially, investigated promptly and fairly, and progressed with consideration for the wellbeing of those involved. We will not retaliate against any person who raises a concern in good faith.
Independent escalation paths are also available, including:
- The Australian Human Rights Commission (humanrights.gov.au)
- The Fair Work Ombudsman (fairwork.gov.au)
- The relevant state equal opportunity commission
7. Responsibilities
Leadership. Senior leaders are responsible for setting the standard and for ensuring this policy is applied consistently.
Managers. Managers are responsible for modelling inclusive conduct, responding to concerns promptly, and supporting workers to raise issues without fear.
All workers. Every worker is responsible for treating colleagues, participants, clients and the public with respect, and for raising concerns when standards are not met.
8. Review
This policy is reviewed at least every two years, or whenever changes in our business or in applicable law warrant earlier review.
